Shreya R(2022-2027 Batch), a student of M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, had the honor of being selected to represent the Tamilnadu Directorate at a prestigious 15-day national level adventure course camp through NCC. This intensive camp took place from April 18th to May 2nd, 2024, at the renowned Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Throughout the course, Shreya and other participants embarked on an adventurous journey, acquiring a wide range of skills essential for mountaineering and survival in the wilderness. They mastered rock climbing, rappelling, river crossing, and zip lining, which provided them with practical and thrilling challenges. Additionally, the camp offered training in crucial survival techniques, including knots and hitches, and tent pitching, which are fundamental for outdoor expeditions.
The experience at the Jawahar Institute was not only about physical challenges but also about personal growth and learning. The camp’s comprehensive curriculum and the beautiful yet demanding environment of Pahalgam contributed to an unforgettable and enriching experience. Shreya’s participation in this national level adventure course has significantly enhanced their understanding and appreciation of outdoor activities and wilderness survival, equipping them with skills and memories that will last a lifetime.
