On April 10th, the M.Tech CSE department organized a practical GitHub Workshop for its 2nd-year students, led by knowledgeable 3rd-year students Kamalesh, Guru, Muthu, and Ruthi. The workshop aimed to equip the students with foundational Git knowledge, emphasizing the importance of version control in software development. The session started with the basics of Git and GitHub, followed by practical exercises on setting up Git, staging changes, and creating commits. Post-break, the focus shifted to GitHub, covering repository creation, commit pushing, and the use of GitHub for project deployment.
Advanced topics such as branching, merging, conflict resolution, and pull requests were covered in the final segment. A handmade cheat sheet was distributed for future reference, making this event not just educational but also a hands-on experience for all participants.
